Hooper Rated

Hooper Rated was purchased by the Virtual Owners Partnership in early May, 1996, at the Churchill Downs Horses of Racing Age auction. A '93 colt by Septieme Ciel, out of Breezing Dixie by Dixieland Band, Hooper Rated was bred by John T.L. Jones in Kentucky. He had a record of 6-0-1-0 with earnings of $3,460 when he was purchased.

    Hooper didn't really seem to like the slop too much, racing hard and close to the stretch, but fading at the end. Hooper's running line: 5-3-4-4-4-6

    This was one of those races that really disappoint an owner. Hooper just acted like he had no interest at all. Hooper's running line: 1-5-7-6-7-7

    Following this race and given Hooper's disappointing performances since the previous summer, Liane's vet in New Orleans wanted to take some additional pictures of Hooper's foot to see if she could find what was really bothering him (she didn't believe "ringbone" should be bothering a young horse that much). The news wasn't good. She found an old, partially fused fracture that the vet in Chicago had totally missed. After much discussion the partners decided to retire Hooper from the track. He has found a new home as a stud horse in the show world.
