Gemjolie broke in a bit of a tangle but came away clear in the second bunch. He put in an even run around the turn and backed off a bit when the other two closed around him. The jock got him to change leads and Moe made back about five lengths. A good debut for a cheap horse meeting the best at the track.
Results remark: Gemjolie raced in the front half of the field early, went three wide on the turn, moved to four wide entering the stretch, and failed to rally.

Gemjolie broke very alertly, sprinted clear to set the pace, was challenged by WILD LOUISE entering the stretch, battled gamely with that rival into deep stretch, but was outfinished late holding on for third.

5 Furlongs MAIDEN CLAIMING. Purse $12,000 (PLUS UP TO $1,200 FROM ATBOIA) FOR MAIDEN TWO YEAR OLDS. Weight 118 lbs. CLAIMING PRICE $25,000.
GEMJOLIE tracked the pace on the inside, got pinched back near the quarter pole, moved off the rail and entered the stretch three wide, and proved only second best.
4th VOP Race - 8/04/02 PP's Results
6 Furlongs MAIDEN CLAIMING. Purse $19,000 (plus $6,840 IOA - IL Registered Own Award) For Maiden Two Year Olds. Weight 120 lbs. Claiming price $32,000, for each $1,000 to $30,000 1 lb.
GEMJOLIE set the pace from the inside while pressed 1st by a head at the half, tired holding 4th by one in the stretch, finishing 5th by a head at the wire.
