Haw 3rd, Mdn Claiming 15000, 6f, track fast. Purse $11,000. Nelson Medina up.
Bold Irish Bull broke a little awkwardly to the right, brushing the #10 horse. Down the back stretch, he raced forwardly, between horses, in the second flight. "Jake" raced well, three wide through the far turn, then was swung five wide entering the stretch. He moved from sixth position to fourth before tiring slightly. Bold Irish Bull fin ished in this position, just a length short of hitting the board, and 81/2 lengths behind the winner. Most VOPsters agreed that Bold Irish Bull was off to a good start in a promising career.

Bold Irish Bull broke very sharply into fourth , but almost immediately began to lose position. By the time he reached the half-mile pole, "Jake" had faded to last place, trailing the field by three lengths. He remained in eleventh place until inside the quarter pole, when he passed three tiring horses to finish eighth. Bold Irish Bull's failure to improve over his much better debut was a major disappointment to the his owners.

Bold Irish Bull broke a little awkwardly, ducked out and brushed with the #6 horse in the first few jumps. Mark straightened him out and settled him well behind the early speed. "Jake" cruised in fifth place, eleven lengths behind the leader after a half mile. Bold Irish Bull began a mild rally turning for home and moved into third place in the stretch. He was gaining on the second place horse at the wire, coming up two lengths short of that one at the wire for the show, beaten 5 and 1/4 lengths overall. A good effort to start the new season!
